the foes fxr is currently 'blowing my horn' as i'm in the market for a new bike that'll do everything (within reason of course). is there anything similar i should be looking at buying? i'm looking at about £1500 for the frame and will swap all the bits off my stinky. i'd prefer something a little different brand wise, no disrespect to the likes of specialized but they don't touch me in my 'special' place regardless of how well they ride. that said the demo 7 looks lush but it'll be too much bike for what i'm after. is there anything else trail bike wise i should blatantly be looking at? ta kids.

i did notice the passing resemblance... the yeti is a bit lardier than i'm after though with the frame being a mere 1lb lighter than the one i'm already on. i'm gonna get some lighter rims hooked up to my hubs and lose a load on the cranks/finishing kit (as it all weighs a metric ton) but any off the frame to begin with is a start.
that said, i could just get ultra buff/fit, but that's not gonna happen.

wheels make the biggest difference as its rotating weight!! effect acceleration etc!!
the ASX is nice I have been very tempted with one myself!! Chilli (worked on temple newsam) got one to replace his bullet he is a XC rider who goes on day long epics but likes to hammer the downs! Mind you I bet he does about 6000 miles a year on it so is very fit!
You dont ride more than 15 miles so you would be fine! AT £900 for the frame that gives you more spending money for finishing kit!

but the foes is oh so sexy... and that shock is a beast.
yeah i totally understand about the wheels which is why i'm gonna be swapping the 729s for something a little less beefy. in over a year of abuse they've rolled true and taking a look at them, there's only the tiniest amount of wobble on them. slightly less silly tyres would be a good idea too, it's all taking shape in my noggin.

The Foes is nice but I've read even the Foes Inferno isn't designed for much more than trail riding. I did meet a guy at Stainburn on a Foes Fly once, that thing was increadibly light with a dh style build kit. Sounds like you're wanting something between a trail bike and a freeride bike and at that price you are looking for premium frames.
Here's my two penath, for all it's worth! I've seen loads of pics of these things going off much larger ladder drops than the biggest one at ORB (RIP) and we all know how light and able to climb they are. My top three:-
2006 Turner RFX (2007 too XC) I know a shop with an ex demo (used twice) in at £1000 with full warranty, you'd probably get it for £950 too (I have been VERY tempted) RRP £1495 Intense 6.6 Santa Cruz Nomad (doesn't have to come from that certain shop, lol)
Although, these are also really nice too and some are really well priced. Transition Bottle Rocket Yeti ASX New Santa Cruz Bullit? New Santa Cruz Heckler (Again you can buy any of the SC's at a non Headingley based shop that might have heard of customer service!)

Does everyone get "stiffed" there? I do believe you are likely to walk out of there bow legged!
